Nicolas CATHERINOT (1628-1688) juriste, avocat et conseiller au présidial de Bourges, érudit et historien.
L.A.S., Bourges 21 July 1674, to Jean HAUDICQUER, sieur de BLANCOURT, "Genealogist of the house of the King"; 2 pages in-8, address (engraved portrait attached). He asks for memoirs "on the families of Toustain, Bourgot, Villiers & Isabelle vicomtesse d'Auge", and would like to know "those who are presently curious in genealogies, & those who write them. I say Mess. de Ste Marthe, du Chesne, Le Laboureur, Blanchard, Justel, du Bouchet, Menestrier. But there are many others"... He will send him "the Genealogical Tomb of my eldest son who died in 1655. It contains my parents & alliances & those of my wife", and many families that he enumerates... He advises to address himself to M. de la Thaumassière "my good & old friend & who dedia me of the 1660 his Centuries of questions on our Coustume of Berry"... The addressee has covered the address sheet with notes. Attached: a L.A.S. and autograph notes of the abbé MERCIER de SAINT-LÉGER on Catherinot.
