Georges ROHNER (1913-2000)
Exceptional set composed of five wooden doors with painted decoration showing a bookcase and a still life A panel signed " G.Rohner " 204 x 74 cm (the largest) GEORGES ROHNER Georges Rohner was born in Paris in 1913. Very quickly, he is interested in drawing and leaves high school to join the galleries of the School of Fine Arts. In 1930, he is admitted as a student in the studio of Lucien Simon, where he rubs shoulders with Jannot, Fontanarosa, Humblot or Chauffrey. He travels the following year to Amsterdam, and will do so throughout his life, Spain, The Hague, Rome, Tuscany, Greece, Holland...Rohner likes to open up to new horizons. He does his military service in Guadeloupe and decorates the town hall of Basse-Terre. Associated with the realist movement, the artist has a very personal vision. Throughout his career, Rohner exhibited extensively; at the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon des Jeunes Artistes, the Tuileries, the Venice Biennale and also at the Wildenstein Gallery in New York... He is also recognized by his peers and eager to pass on his knowledge. Thus, in 1959, he was a lecturer at the School of Fine Arts and decorated with the Legion of Honour, in 1962 professor of drawing and colour at the School of Decorative Arts, and finally, in 1968, he was elected to the Academy of Fine A
