Roman Empire, Rome. Caracalla (Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Caracalla) (198-217), silver denarius. Obverse: Bust of Plautille Augusta on right. Reverse: Allegory of Venus victorious, standing left, holding an apple in her outstretched right hand and a palm in her left, resting her left elbow on the shield; at her feet, to her left, Cupid. Weight: 3.02 g. TTB+ RIC IV Caracalla 369. A comparable example is preserved in the Museum of the American Numismatic Society (New York) under number 1995.1.24.
