MACHIAVEL - [JOU, Louis]. Machiavelli's Prince. Paris, Jou Bosviel, 1921. 1 vol. in-4 narrow. Full brown morocco, ribbed spine extending across the boards, gilt title and author, date on tail of spine, orange moire endpapers, framed in brown morocco decorated with a grid of cold filets and mosaic flowers in orange morocco, mosaic flowers in corners, double paper endpapers with black, white and gold Art-Deco floral decoration, covers and spine preserved, gilt head [BERNARD].
First edition of the translation by Albert t'Serstevens, with a preface by André Suarès.
This is the first work printed by Louis Jou, who illustrated it with woodcuts, including a portrait of the author, bandeaux and initials. Printed in red and black.
Edition of 310 copies, this one of 20 on old japon, n°XVII.
