China, Jiaqing period (1796-1820) Pair of white porcelain bowls, with blue enameled decoration of five-clawed dragons among foaming waves. The reverse of each bowl features the same decoration. Jiaqing mark on reverse in zuanshu. Restoration to one bowl, tiny chips around the rim of the other bowl and a firing defect. N.B. Similar model reproduced in copper red, p.371 in "The official Kiln porcelain of the chinese Qinf Dynasty" Treasures in the Royalty (book written by the Nanjing Museum, published in Shanghai, representing porcelain from imperial kilns of the Qing dynasty).
