Paperback, green covers. 32 pp. This text addresses maritime smuggling from the port of Nice. As president of the Maritime Magistrate (or the Commercial Consulate) since 1822 and president of the Senate of Nice, Count de Cessole recognized the importance of the free port to the balance of local economic life. This text paved the way for the defense of local rights and privileges. In it, he expresses the concerns of his fellow citizens at a time when the Piedmontese administration was drafting its customs reform, which aimed to simplify and standardize regulations.
