[BOUCHERY (Omer)].
Preparatory drawings by Omer Bouchery (1882-1962) for Auguste Angellier's book, A l'amie perdue. 22 drawings (ink, pencil and watercolor) and 2 engravings (Donation Laurence-Angellier to the University Library of Lille (1911)). Drawings placed in a slipcase and kept in a cardboard folder (spine damaged). France, 1923 First published in 1896, A l'amie perdue is a poetic work by Auguste Angellier. An English teacher in Douai, Auguste Angellier (1848-1911) met a young woman in 1881 and confessed his love at the foot of a seringat tree. The woman is married, mother of two children: she will leave her husband and return to live with her parents. They will not stop writing to each other and, to preserve their secrecy, will establish an encrypted code in their correspondence. The illustrations (woodcuts) by Omer Bouchery will appear in the Paris edition, Hachette, 1930.
