[VERSAILLES]. LAMBERT (Marcel)]. Two watercolor... - Lot 304 - Delon - Hoebanx
[VERSAILLES]. LAMBERT (Marcel)]. Two watercolor drawings relating to the Versailles estate. Preparatory drawings for the engravings of Lambert's book. France, ca. 1890-1900 ? Elevation of a structure: dimensions: 580 x 440 mm. Cross-section of the Royal Chapel of Versailles with Organ: dimensions: 540 x 400 mm. Marcel Lambert (1847-1928) was chief architect of the Versailles estate and the Trianons from 1888, when he succeeded Alfred Leclerc. For twenty-four years, until his departure in 1912, he carried out a considerable amount of work in this position, benefiting from the advice - sometimes very strongly argued - of Pierre de Nolhac, chief curator throughout this period. See : Philippe Gille and Marcel Lambert, Versailles et les deux Trianons: Relevés et dessins par Marcel Lambert, Tours, 1899-1900. The organ of the Chapelle Royale was built in 1710 and 1711 by the Parisian organ builders Robert Clicquot and Julien Tribuot. The organ was inaugurated by François Couperin. It was classified in 1882.
