TÉMOIN (Le)
From no. 1, 10 December 1933 to no. 69, 30 June 1935. Missing nos. 48, 53, 55, 56. Unbound copies, some damaged. During the five years of existence of the "Témoin", 190 issues were published. A weekly, "Le Témoin" appeared regularly during the first four years, but with strong disturbances in 1910. It was Paul Iribe who was behind its creation, with the help of François Bernouard. Among his social contacts, Iribe regularly saw Dagny Björnson, who was then living in Paris with her two sons. At the beginning of 1906, the relationship between the young woman and her husband, Albert Langen, who was living in Munich to manage "Simplicissimus" and his publishing house, had deteriorated and led to a separation between the two spouses. It was during the summer of the same year that the young woman confided to Iribe her desire to create a magazine that could rival the prestigious German satirical review. Paul Iribe accepted the challenge and became its founding director. JOINT: Various magazines, including Le Collectionneur français; Javelot, 2 nos. (no. 1, June 1, 1934; no. 3, July 1, 1934); Satirix; Special issues of Le Rire...; Les taches d'encre (no. 2, March 16, 1935).
