A handsome desk with rich geometric inlaid decoration of rosettes on rosewood quatrefoils alternating with lozenges, creating a trompe-l'œil effect in perspective. Rectangular in shape, it opens with a wide drawer inlaid with an interlace frieze, a flap revealing the paperweight compartmented with six drawers and five cartons lined in red morocco with gilded vignettes framing a secret niche, and two leaves in the lower section. Cut-panel mounts with simulated amaranth fluting; projecting base and straight legs. Louis XVI period. Stamped by Pierre Denizot. Grey-veined white marble top. H: 143 - W: 101 - D: 46.5 cm.
