Third edition, revised, corrected, and considerably expanded. With a dedication from the author on the half-title page. Spine slightly faded. Minor scuffs on the leather. HUGUES, John. An Itinerary of Provence and the Rhône, Made During the Year 1819. London, James Cawthorn, 1822. 20th-century collector’s binding, red half-shagreen, title, author, and date gilt. First edition of this very interesting account of a journey through France by the Englishman John Hughes, undertaken during the Restoration in 1819. The volume is illustrated with a frontispiece and 12 etched plates containing views and scenes—some of which are somewhat humorous—based on the author’s sketches.
