Marie-Clotilde de FRANCE (1759-1802) sœur de Louis XVI, elle fut princesse de Piémont puis Reine de Sardaigne.
L.A.S., Livorno 28 September 1799, to his sister-in-law Marie-Thérèse countess d'ARTOIS, in Clagenfurt; 1 page small in-4, address with black wax seal with her arms (broken). She has just arrived "on dry land" after "a very quick navigation, but all the more painful, also the King suffered a lot"... They are going to leave for Florence: "we are going very slowly to have time to receive news which ensures the whole deliverance of Piedmont which is not yet finished". She congratulates her on the marriage of her son the Duke of Angouleme [who had married Madame Royale on June 10, 1799]. "The King charges me with a thousand tender things from him; what consoles him most of all his misfortunes, it is to be no longer the Ally of the French"...
