We must urge these gentlemen of the clergy to make a resolution. [...] I have no doubt that you are rather embarrassed to provide for all the expenses, but you must redouble your efforts to find the means. I have spoken about it urgently to M. Servien. When we are in Compiegne, we will do what you propose to complete the business of the Order & as soon as the Queen of Sweden [Christine] leaves, the King will send for the Knights to hold the Chapter. Colbert must be given a small sum which must not be taken "from the three hundred thousand livres for the army. If you knew in what state we were, you would have pity. It is also necessary to send the three hundred thousand for Italy instead of everything else. The King wanted M. de la Rabelière to be exchanged for the Spanish captain taken in Valencia...
