Full contemporary calf, large gilt coat of arms in the centre of the boards, spine decorated with gilt stars in the caissons, gilt title. 14] ff, 252ff. Printer's mark on the title page. Rare first edition, all the more rare in an armorial binding. This is a copy of Jean-Pierre II de Montchal, Chevalier, seigneur de Noyen, de Grisy. Nephew of the archbishop of Toulouse, Charles de Montchal, he was appointed counsellor to the parliament of Paris in 1680. > Handwritten bookplate on the title page: Counay. PRECIOUS EXEMPLAIRE IN ARMORED BINDINGS OF THE TIME. Epidermal damage to the binding, rubbing to the spines. Marginal staining at the end of the volume. O.H.R. pl. 1435.
