NANTES]. Golden book of the city hall of Nantes. Nantes, Veuve Antoine Marie, s.d. 1 vol. in-12. 18th century calf, gilt arms in the centre of the boards, spine with ornate nerves, title page in blond calf.
New edition of this work which first appeared in 1696.
Frontispiece by Quillaud, from 1751, and a fold-out chronological table of the mayors of the city of Nantes.
The project was to write down the names and surnames of the mayors, eschevins, procurators and clerks of the aforementioned city who have been since the creation of the town hall.
The work is filled with 68 engraved coats of arms, some bound, others flying. Many blank leaves bound in-fine.
>Copy with the arms of Adélaïde-Édouard Le Lièvre, marquis de la Grange et de Fourilles (1796-1876). He was notably a military man, in charge of diplomatic affairs in Holland, deputy of Gironde in 1837, member of the Académie des Inscriptions et des Belles-Lettres in 1846, senator of the Empire in 1852 and grand officer of the Légion d'honneur.
