Engravings by Pisan. Paris, Plon frères, 1854. 1 vol. in-4. Bound in publisher's Bradel style covered with white waxed paper, smooth spine, title, publisher's name and date printed. Rare first edition not put on the market. "This banterful production tells the fabulous story of an estate located in the commune of Macau and belonging to M. Duffour-Dubergier, a rich merchant established in Bordeaux, mayor of this city from 1842 to 1848, who died in 1862. He had some of his friends as collaborators, in particular Mr. Biarnez, wine broker, then merchant in Bordeaux." Quérard, Supercheries, t. 2, col. 186. The work is illustrated with a chromolithographed frontispiece and woodcuts, 24 of which are hors-texte. The text is framed in different coloured vegetal frames. A wide-margined copy, preserved in the publisher's binding. Heavy wear on the binding, scattered brown spots.
