Le Carnaval à Paris. Paris, Aubert, 1838-1843. 1 vol. infolio. Blond half calf with corners, smooth spine, title page in green morocco. Complete set of 40 lithographs drawn by Gavarni, mounted on tabs: 37 colored and gummed and 3 in black. Plate n° 22 is in condition with the series title Fantaisies; plate n° 26 is in condition with the series title Paris le soir; plate n° 32 is in condition with the series title Le Carnaval (states of publication before that under the series title Le Carnaval à Paris). Bound at the beginning of the volume: a caricature by Gavarni lithographed by Benjamin Roubaud published in Le Panthéon charivarique. 6 additional proofs with different coloring for plates n° 5, 11, 12, 15, 20 and 21 (this last one, with frame and under the series title Bal masqué). Slight rubbing to the binding, small loss to the title-piece. A few plates uniformly foxed but not severe and a few with halos in the upper margin; plates #21, 24 and 32 with slightly shorter margins, plates #22 and 25 (this one, titled Paris le soir #19) unbound and with slightly shorter margins.
