Vietnam, Nguyen dynasty, reign of Emperor Thiêu Tri (1841-1847) and reign of Emperor Tự Đức (1848-1883) Imperial service set, comprising eight Hué blue porcelains, including: - two octagonal-shaped bowls, decorated in a central medallion with a coiled dragon facing the sacred pearl, surrounded by four characters mentioning the reign of Emperor Thieu Tri and encircled by eight coiled dragons. The rim of the cups is decorated with a frieze of ruyi heads, - five octagonal sorbets, decorated with four coiled dragons alternating with the four characters of Thiêu Tri's reign. - A teapot decorated around the rim with four coiled dragons (four-character mark on reverse Tự Đức niên tao), the spout adorned with the Tho "longevity" character All the porcelain is encircled by gilded metal. Diam. octagonal cups. 11 cm and 13 cm; firing defect on the reverse of one of the octagonal bowls, H. for three sorbets. 3.5 cm and H. 4 cm (for the fifth sorbet); minor chips to three sorbets, H. teapot 7.3 cm; enamel chips and missing parts.
