Japan, 18th century, Porcelain teapot with "kenjo imari" decoration in red, blue, green and gold highlights (kinrande), on two sides of a medallion bird in the form of a ruyi, resting on a background of stylized geometric motifs. The two sides are decorated with a leaf and foliage. The handle and spout are decorated with flowers. The lid takes the form of a chrysanthemum in full bloom, with four "longevity" characters set against a geometric background. Two small chrysanthemum flowers on either side of the handle complete the ornamentation. Restoration to the handle. H. 16 cm
