Red half-maroquin with corners, spine ribbed and decorated, gilt title and tomaison, place and date at foot, gilt fillet on covers, gilt edges. [BRANY]. Ornate with 27 hors texte engravings, on chine and mounted on white paper, by Demarne, Dutertre, Mlle Gérard, Marillier, Monsiau and Monnet, engraved by Choffard, Delvaux, Dupréel, de Ghendt, Giraud, Saint-Aubin, etc. Louvet de Couvray's most important work. Cohen, 660-661. Scratch to 2nd plate of volume 3. Small stains on pages 15 to 24 of volume 2. Margin damaged on pages 171-172 of volume 4.
