Full vermilion red morocco, broadly framed with gilt filleting and brown listel intertwining in the corners, ribbed spine, gilt author, title, date and place, double gilt filleting on the edges, red morocco framing on the counterslips, gilt edges on witnesses, covers and spine preserved, in lined slipcase. The work is decorated with numerous color illustrations by Gustave-Adolf Mossa, including five hors-texte, a cover vignette, a title vignette, 32 headpieces, 32 lettrines and 32 culs-de-lampe. Edition of 1,200 copies, this being one of the 30 first copies on japon containing four etchings of the hors-texte, engraved by E. Decisy, including one in color à la poupée, and three etchings of the illustrations in the text, including one in black. With an original watercolor by Mossa on the title page.
