China, Nanjing, late 19th century. Beige glazed ceramic flared-neck baluster vase with blue and white decoration of peony flowers and birds perched on a branch of prunus in bloom. Two prunus branches form handles. Three concentric brown bisque bands with stylized motifs complete the ornamentation. Mark on reverse. H. 43.5 cm. (firing defect on the body)
